Thinking About Joining a Run Club?

Or Are You Doing Just Fine on Your Own?

That is the million dollar question…

So, you’ve caught the bug.

You might not have expected it, but running is starting to become your thing. That early morning shuffle out the door? It’s gone from a chore to something you genuinely look forward to. The peace, the movement, the progress—it’s addictive in the best way.

Which begs the question:

Do you really need a run club? Or are you doing just fine solo?

The beauty of running is how simple and versatile it is. The choice is totally yours. You can absolutely do it alone and you can definitely make great progress without ever joining a group. But if you’re curious—if you’re sitting on the fence—here’s a quick look at the options.

Free Run Clubs

There are plenty of informal, free clubs floating around—maybe a Facebook group, a weekly meet-up at the park, or a “show up if you feel like it” crew. And this may put me out of business but;

These can be great for:

  • Meeting like-minded people

  • Staying a little more consistent

  • Adding some social energy to your runs

And while the commitment is low, so is the structure—which works for some people. It is as simple as it sounds. Turn up (or not), go for a run, tick the box.

Alternatively; if you’re looking for something more guided, more accountable, and more goal-driven, that’s where paid run clubs come in.

Paid Run Clubs (the good ones at least)

This is where things can really shift gears.

When you join a structured club—like at Nuff’s—you’re getting more than a run.

You’re getting:

  • Certified coaching that adapts every session to your level allowing you to progress at your own pace

  • Insurance and safety - stuff you probably don’t think about until you need it one day

  • A black and white booking system that builds proper accountability

  • And yes, you’ve got a bit of skin in the game—which often makes all the difference when motivation dips

One of the best parts in my humble opinion? Let’s put it this way…

Nobody in our run club knew each other before they joined. Now, they’re booking post-run coffees together, sharing wins and races, and showing up for each other on and off the trails. That community is real, and it grows every single week. Something I am super proud of for sure!!

And lastly, the choice of no Run Club…

Let’s be honest—some runners thrive solo.

No schedules. No obligations. Just you and the road (or trail). That’s completely valid, and there’s no rule that says you need a group to be a “real” runner. If this is you, hats off!

So, What’s Next?

Whether you’re:

  • ready to commit to a club,

  • dabbling in the idea of something free, or

  • loving your solo runs…

…the key is to find what keeps you moving.

Because once the bug bites, there’s no wrong way to run with it.

I know several free run clubs if you would ever like to reach out, and I also offer FREE trials to my paid run clubs!

The choice is yours!!! But keep on running and keep on enjoying this beautiful sport!!
